THE OPPORTUNITY
Urban Solutions is seeking a skilled and ambitious Civil Engineer to join our project design and delivery consultancy. You will become an integral part of the team with a focus on engineering design and acting as ‘Engineer’ or ‘Engineer’s Representative’ for any number of our wide-ranging public infrastructure projects. Day to day, you will be working closely alongside our clients, stakeholders, civil engineers, project managers and wider team of professionals. The role will consist of:
- Site investigation, concept design and feasibility studies.
- Good solid working knowledge and application of NZS3910 and NZS3916.
- Design and construction management requiring a solid understanding and general application of best practices, techniques, concepts and theoretical principles.
- Geotechnical investigations.
- Stormwater flood assessments.
- Retaining wall design.
- Reinforced concrete design.
- Earthworks cut fill and pavement design using Civil 3D.
- Producing detailed civil construction designs.
- Erosion and sedimentation control.
- Safety in design.
- Preparing engineering reports.
- Job management including client reporting, invoicing, scheduling, and subconsultant management.
- Preparing tender and contract documentation.
- Construction site monitoring and contract administration.
- Ensuring technical quality and that projects are completed on schedule and within budget.
- Liaison with client representatives, mana whenua, stakeholders and specialist professional consultants.
- Management of contractual obligations.
- Good knowledge of project management process and techniques including project management plans, status reports, cost management and Microsoft Project or equivalent programming tool.
Along with our variety of interesting coastal and civil works projects, we are currently commencing Engineer to Contract duties for a significant stormwater/earthworks project within the Auckland region and require additional Civil Engineering resources.
Our team is based in the amazing Icehouse office space in Parnell, with a modern collaborative environment. The recently completed state of the art office space has all at hand, along with the essential espresso to get us through the day!
You will become an integral part of the project team with a focus on supporting and leading other team members to deliver our diverse range of public infrastructure projects.
ABOUT YOU
The successful candidate will possess the following:
- A recognised NZ tertiary level qualification in Civil Engineering preferably Washington Accord and CPEng.
- Sound working knowledge and application of NZS3910.
- At least 5+ years experience in an engineering consultancy environment.
- Strong proficiency in civil and geotechnical design management.
- Coastal project experience is preferable although training can be provided.
- Ability to use initiative and work independently as well as part of the project team.
- Outstanding attention to detail and an ability to move swiftly yet accurately.
- Working knowledge and familiarity with New Zealand standards and Local Authority regulations.
- A solid reputation and standing in the NZ civil engineering environment and evidence of a track record of successful project delivery.
- Must be a NZ permanent resident or NZ Citizen.
