We’re looking for a skilled Civil Engineer to join our core team with over 3 years of experience in consultancy, possessing strong expertise in civil and geotechnical design, and familiar with NZ standards and regulations. Ideal candidates will have a NZ tertiary qualification in Civil Engineering and be proficient in AutoCAD and Civil 3D, with coastal design experience being a bonus.

Urban Solutions is seeking a skilled and ambitious Civil Engineer to join our project design and delivery consultancy. You will become an integral part of the team with a focus on project coordination, civil engineering design and construction monitoring for any number of our wide ranging public infrastructure projects. Day to day, you will be working closely alongside our civil engineers, project managers and wider team of professionals. The role will consist of:

  • Site investigation, concept design and feasibility studies.
  • Providing independent specialised technical service requiring general application of practices, techniques, concepts and theoretical principles;
    • Stormwater flood assessments.
    • Retaining wall design.
    • Reinforced concrete design.
    • Earthworks cut fill and pavement design using Civil 3D.
    • Producing detailed civil construction designs.
    • Erosion and sedimentation control
  • Preparing engineering reports.
  • Job management including invoicing, scheduling, and subconsultant management.
  • Preparing tender documentation.
  • Construction site monitoring and testing.
  • Ensuring technical quality and that projects run smoothly.
  • Liaison with client representatives and other professional consultants.
  • Good knowledge of Microsoft Project or equivalent programming tool.

Our team is based in the amazing Icehouse office space in Parnell, with a modern collaborative environment. The recently completed state of the art office space has all at hand, along with the essential espresso to get us through the day!

You will become an integral part of the project team with a focus on supporting and leading other team members to deliver our diverse range of public infrastructure projects.

ABOUT YOU

The successful candidate will possess the following:

  • A recognised NZ tertiary level qualification in Civil Engineering.
  • Sound working knowledge and application of NZS3910.
  • 3+ years experience in a consultancy environment.
  • Strong proficiency in general civil design.
  • Excellent communication and people skills.
  • Ability to use initiative and work independently as well as part of the project team.
  • Outstanding attention to detail and an ability to move swiftly yet accurately.
  • Working knowledge and familiarity with New Zealand standards and Local Authority regulations.
  • A solid reputation and standing in the NZ civil engineering environment.
  • Working knowledge of AutoCAD and Civil 3D.
  • Must be a NZ permanent resident or NZ Citizen.
