Graduate Civil Engineer

We are enjoying strong and sustained growth in our public open spaces, civil infrastructure and coastal portfolios and are seeking a smart and ambitious Graduate Civil Engineer, based in Parnell, Auckland to join our project design and delivery consultancy.

You will become an integral part of the team with a focus on project management, engineering design and construction on a diverse range of public infrastructure projects.

About Our Role

As part of our high performing team, you’ll have the opportunity to make a difference working with the team on a diverse range of public infrastructure projects, ranging from playgrounds and sports fields, retaining walls, bridges and boardwalks, roads and car parks, seawalls and marinas from initiation to completion.

We value self-starters and encourage a continuous improvement mindset. The team is a highly functioning group of project managers and engineers that are focused on delivery for our mainly local government clients. You will receive training and guidance from our senior engineers in AutoCAD Civil 3D design and all aspects of project management.

Key Responsibilities:

• Design drafting using AutoCAD Civil 3D under guidance
• Office and site work with the opportunity to support our experienced engineers
• Undertake site investigations and construction supervision requirements
• Assist in preparing specifications, consent applications, schedules and contract documentation
• Assist project managers in programming, reporting and meeting support
• Ensure that all designs adhere to relevant codes and compliance standards
• Construction monitoring and quality control

About You:

• Be equipped with a NZ recognised (Washington Accord accredited) tertiary qualification in Engineering
• Exemplary skills in verbal and written communications to interact with our wide range of stakeholders, iwi, clients, consultants and contractors
• Can do and passion for learning is critical
• Knowledge/proficiency in AutoCAD and Civil 3D, as well as other general window-based programmes. AutoCAD training will be provided
• Proficiency in civil design advantageous
• A degree of project management knowledge and skills would be advantageous
• Ability to use initiative and work independently as well as part of the project teams
• Highly organised, efficient, attention to detail and a positive can-do attitude are all traits which will be important in this role, and in our business
• Professional competence across the Microsoft Office suite (Word, Excel, Outlook, Teams, OneDrive, SharePoint)
• High scoring academic record
• Achievements in activities outside studies and work
• Must be a NZ permanent resident or NZ Citizen and reside in Auckland
