Lotus Walkway suffered a slip in 2017 which resulted in the walkway being closed. Urban Solutions was engaged in late 2018 to prepare tender documentation, project manage and provide construction supervision of these works.

The works included cliff stabilisation using mesh, soil nails and a capping beam built into the new pathway. The project also renewed the old, non-compliant balustrade with a new compliant balustrade.

Safety in Design was utilised on this project to identify the risk to users of falling debris on the uphill slope. The works were consequently adapted to include a rock fall mesh above the path to protect users.

The walkway has now been reopened and provides the community with the much enjoyed view and link to Browns Bay.
