Auckland Council has engaged Urban Solutions to investigate new pedestrian and cycling routes through Rosedale Park as identified within the Upper Harbour Greenway Plan.  The expected benefits of the project include encouraging people to walk and cycle for transportation and recreation, improve the safety of pedestrians within the carpark areas, and generally improve the physical fitness of the local community.

Rosedale Park  is a wide, expansive park that consists of a mix of undeveloped park land, sportsfields, clubrooms, carparks, paths and open space.  An express path network (a separated cycleway and footpath) is situated on Rosedale Road, while a variety of local paths are located within the park itself. There are key gaps within the park network and the proposed Rosedale Park Greenway routes aim to link the existing walkways and cycleways together. 

The professional services scope is to undertake specialist investigations and prepare an options assessment of the three identified routes, that includes high-level concept designs and cost estimates for each route.  Our services also include Mana Whenua engagement, consultation with key stakeholders including preparation of graphic material for consultation with sports clubs and park users as well as presenting our findings to the local board for adoption and allocation of funding.  

Desktop assessments and field investigations are currently underway and include arboricultural, archaeological, planning, contaminated land and a traffic safety and carpark layout assessment.  The key findings will inform the concept designs.  Planning and consenting requirements will be outlined in the final report, along with an analysis on the constructability, complexity, benefits, risks and issues of each route.
