Scope: Design and consenting of a 30m long boat ramp

Ruamahunga Boat Ramp provides launching and retrieving access for the local community on the western side of the Coromandel Peninsula. Urban Solutions were engaged by Thames Coromandel District Council to undertake necessary investigations, detailed design and obtain a resource consent to renew the existing structure.

Concept design, site survey, a coastal processes assessment and consultation with both locals, Iwi, and NZTA was undertaken to provide design inputs into the detailed design Urban Solutions prepared. An Assessment of Environmental Effects was also undertaken to ensure that the works and the new boat ramp would have a less than minor effect on the environment.

As a result, Urban Solutions worked with Thames-Coromandel District Council to provide a design, associated resource consent, and full tender package that can be used to reconstruct the boat ramp.  The ramp is now a legal structure and is ready to upgrade subject to funding availability.
